After LHS
After graduation I thought I would work the summer and then start KU in the fall. Wrong! I stayed at Hallmark Cards for 32 years, retiring in 1997. My husband, Tarry, also worked at Hallmark (for 31 years) and retired the same year I did. I enjoyed my time with the Hallmark Company very much.

Hearth & Home
Married Chuck Shoemaker in 1973. We divorced in 1989. Married Tarry Freeman in 1994. Never had any children, but have a wonderful cat named Buddy who is just that, my buddy.

The Other Stuff
After retiring, we sold the house and put our "stuff" in storage. We bought a 37-foot, fifth-wheel RV and decided to travel around the country to "see what we could see." We did this for four years, coming back to Lawrence every summer and staying at the state park. During our travels we discovered a place that had year-round "summertime"—no snow, no freezing temperatures. We could wear shorts all the time...no more long pants!!! So, we took our "stuff" out of storage and moved to Alamo, Tex., where we live in an "over-55" resort that we love. We are only 45 minutes from South Padre Island and only six miles from the Mexican border. My parents sold their home last summer and moved down here, as did my oldest brother, John (class of 1965). Life is good!

My Memories of LHS
My fond memories are of Leaders Club ( I still have my jacket!) and the Girls Sport Show..."Show Down 66;" playing different schools in volleyball; cutting the square; and spending hours and hours sitting in Allen's Drive Inn with the nicest and cutest guy who I called my boyfriend. Thanks, Gary. I still think of you often. And I also remember
Mr. Denny's speech class. I hated giving those speeches...yuck!!!!!
