After LHS
I earned a bachelor's degree in teaching from KU. I also have a master's degree in curriculum and supervision from Emporia State.

Employment
I taught at Ft. Leavenworth for 26 years and just retired. It feels strange not to be at school, so I am doing some substituting just to be around kids. It is hard to go cold-turkey! Since I was single for so long between marriages, I always had other jobs to support my sons and put them through private school and college. I taught water aerobics for 10 years, was an adjunct professor for St. Mary's University, managed rental properties, and sold jewelry to keep them both in braces!

Hearth & Home
For the past five years (in November), I've been married to Rod Huskey. I was single for 15 years and had a great time! Just when you aren't looking, someone comes along and surprises you. I have two sons with Stan Hubbard (LHS'64), to whom I was married for 19 years. Grady (33), my oldest, is married and lives in St. Louis. He is a computer-assisted artist for a surveying company. His wife. Julie, is in the radio business. Joel (29) and his wife, Lyndsay, live in Leavenworth. Joel is with the homebuilder's division of Bank of America in Kansas City, and Lyndsay owns a Salon-Spa here. My boys mean the world to me, but I don't get to see them as much as I would like. I am hoping for grandchildren soon and am jealous of all of you who already have them!

The Other Stuff
I have always done a lot of volunteer work in the community by serving on boards, etc. Currently I am very involved in Leavenworth County Democrats, am a member of PEO, and serve on a committee at church. My husband and I bought a house together and just finished last summer going through and redoing it, room by room. I would love to travel more. My sister, Barbara (LHS'67), and I went to London; I have visited a friend in Puerto Rico; and Rod and I have been to British Columbia. My passion is interior design and I hope to do something with that in the future. I recently helped a builder with a spec home, and have helped my friends arrange their homes for years. I would love to go into business; I guess it is never too late!

My Memories of LHS
I fondly remember being editor of the school paper with Anita Markley. On Fridays we'd collect for ads and take the paper to the Journal World, after which we'd usually stop at Sandy's for a fish sandwich. Once I got stopped by the police for speeding in Mr. Conrad's car. (I cried and got out of it!) I remember getting into Terpsichore and being in lots of dances in a review we did...and my mother being amazed at that. I remember being the (unchesty) Chesty Lion. That suit was so hot! Once at a basketball game, I thought I was going to pass out. Another bad memory is of Miss Ruttan. She would watch people walk down the hall with those "headbeam" eyes. Once she accused me of doing something I didn't do. I finally said I did it just to get her off my back. I remember she made me sit in her little back room, which was really at the front of the room. She bawled me out in there until I cried. Then I had to come out in front of the whole class. Not fun.
