Services for Eldon R. Flory, 46, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m.
Monday at Lawrence Free Methodist Church with the Revs. Ron
Kocher and Tom Bassford officiating. Burial will be at
Pleasant Grove Cemetery, south of Lawrence.
Mr. Flory died Friday, April 1, 1994, at his home after a long
illness.
He was born Jan. 7, 1948, in Lawrence, the son of Harold and
Mary Kinzie Flory.
A Douglas County resident his entire life, Mr. Flory was
employed as senior vice president and director of information
systems at Capitol Federal Savings and Loan, Topeka.
He had worked for Capitol Federal since September 1972 and had
been in his present position since May 1982. While working at
Capitol Federal, he often spoke on information systems for
various banking organizations, such as the U.S. Savings and
Loan League, and private corporations, such as IBM.
Until 1993, he owned the Jayhawk Software Co., which designed
and distributed software for rural water districts and urban
water departments throughout the United States. He also had
spoken at meetings of the Kansas Rural Water Assn.
Mr. Flory was a 1966 graduate of Lawrence High School and
attended Emporia State University.
Before working for Capitol Federal, he worked for 4-1/2 years
for USD497 in Lawrence as a computer programmer.
He was a member of the Lawrence Free Methodist Church, where
he served on the official board as director of finance.
He also was treasurer for several years for the Great Plains
Conference Loan Board of the Free Methodist Church. Mr. Flory
was a member of the Business School Advisory Board at Emporia
State and served as a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels,
Topeka.
He married Cheryl Dodder on July 26, 1969, in Worden. She
survives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, Trent,
of the home; a daughter, Tara, of the home; his mother, Mary
Flory, rural Baldwin; three brothers, Donald, rural Baldwin,
Ralph, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and Merle, rural Baldwin; and his
grandmother, Elsie Flory, Baldwin.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Free Methodist
Church building fund. |
