Overbrook—Joe Anderson, 33, Overbrook, died in a car pickup accident about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 1981, on an Osage County road 4.5 miles northeast of Overbrook. 

An Osage County Sheriff’s deputy said Mr. Anderson was a passenger in a car that struck a pickup near the crest of a hill. The deputy said the pickup was pulling into a driveway. 

Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 5, 1948, at Lawrence, the son of Carter and Opal Hollingsworth Anderson. He lived in Douglas and Osage counties all his life. He graduated from Lawrence High School and Kansas City Diesel Mechanics School. 

He was a salesman for McConnell Machinery Co., Allis-Chalmers farm implements, Lawrence. 

He was a member of Clinton Presbyterian Church and Ridgeway Lodge No. 65, AF&AM, Overbrook. 

He married Carol E. Edwardson on Dec. 28, 1968, in Lawrence. She survives. 

Other survivors include a daughter, Julie Anderson, of the home; a son, Justin Anderson, of the home; his father and stepmother, Carter and Thelma Anderson, Lawrence; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Coggburn, Mrs. Jane Schwartz, and Mrs. Louise Wintermantle, all of Baldwin; and a brother, Loren C. Anderson, Lawrence. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Clinton Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery. Mr. Anderson will lie in state until 10 a.m. Monday at Rumsey Funeral Home Lawrence, and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Joe Anderson memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
