After LHS
BS, English Education, KU
MS, Educational Administration, KU
Nearly completed doctorate, but gave up when I changed jobs
Employment
70s: Wellsville Jr. Sr. High...teacher and asst. principal
80s: Principal, Chase County High School, Cottonwood Falls, KS
89-present: Policy Specialist, Kansas Association of School
Boards
Hearth & Home
Wife: Kathy
Two older daughters: Both in their 30s and working in the
health field. My daughter from my "new life" is a junior at
Topeka High School. She is very active in music and sings with
the Madrigals, the THS select group of singers.
Dogs: Stella and Maggie (got on a Tennessee Williams kick)
Cats: Howard, Tyrone Biggams, Momma Kitty and Monet
The Other Stuff
I work with school site councils and serve as a
YouthFriend mentor to a grade school boy. I bake sourdough
bread and Italian and Mexican food for a hobby. Garden a
bit—flowers and veggies—and read biography, history and trashy
crime novels for entertainment. As far as achievements, survival is its own
reward. What I'd still like to do? Collect social security,
travel more, and learn to control my emotions.
My Memories of LHS
Fond LHS memories include passing period and lunch; also
Gertrude Ruttan and Don Binns. Not-so-fond ones: The stormtroopers who ran the place.
I tried hard when I was an administrator not to emulate some
of their bad habits. |
