After LHS
In 1968 I worked briefly at Douglas County Bank as proof
operator, but due to problems during pregnancy, I had to
leave. Then, in 1969, I briefly worked for B.F. Goodrich as a
receptionist, but left because my son became ill. I stayed
home with the children until 1983, when I again went to work
for Douglas County Bank. This time my duties were safe deposit
manager, vault teller, teller and customer service, opening
all types of accounts—CDs, IRAs, etc. I worked at all four
locations of DCB, which kept me from being bored those 14
years of employment. In 1997, I retired due to illness.
Hearth & Home
The last 40 years I have been wonderfully blessed, married 39
of those years to my best friend, James Scribner. He is
employed at KU and we have two children. Son Michael and his
wife, Trina, have given us two grandchildren: Dylan, 15, who
started driving this summer, and Kaitlyn, 10, who is learning
to play the sousaphone. Daughter Elizabeth and her husband,
Scott, have given us one grandchild, Wesley, who at 3 is the
baby of the clan and has us wrapped around his little
finger. We take a lot of family trips together in our RV and
recently returned from Disney World. We have had a lot of fun
and laughs traveling with our family across the United States,
going back to some of our favorite places again and again. In
1998 Jim and I moved in with Elizabeth and Scott after she
became very ill. Today she is doing wonderfully, which we are
very thankful about. We added onto their house and they have
since added onto the house twice. So we still live with them
in their huge home, where Jim and I have beautiful in-law
quarters that we enjoy. Now, if I could figure out a way to
have my son and his family move in, too, I would really
be pleased. But no one thinks the house is big enough!
The Other Stuff
I also collect antiques—dishes, linens, dolls, carpenter
tools, furniture and family heirlooms. But I just couldn't
tell you of my past 40 years without sharing the greatest
personal experience that has made an impact in my life so
wonderfully. I have learned to know of a great and mighty God,
who sent his Son (Jesus) that I can have peace, experience the
greatest love on earth, and have life eternal. Jesus met me
where I was and He can do the same for you! My Memories of LHS
I am also very thankful for the lasting friendships going as
far back as grade school. I have fond memories and no regrets
with life, having learned to grow by the different things that
I have experienced. |
