After LHS
I received my BS degree from
Southern Nazarene University, a small private college in
Oklahoma City, and got my MS degree in Higher Education
Administration from Kansas State University.
Employment
My first job was teaching at West Junior High in Lawrence for
five years. Then I joined the faculty at Mid-American
Nazarene University in Olathe, where I taught for another
five years. I also started an image management firm,
Rainboutique, in Lawrence, which I owned for five years
before selling it in N.Y. Next, my husband, John, left
Stephens Real Estate, where he created and managed their
insurance department, and returned to the Army. So we moved
to Mississippi, where we both were on the faculty at Delta
State University for the next five years. After that, the
army moved us to St. Louis, where I directed a federal
program assisting laid-off workers from McDonnell Douglas,
Chrysler, GM, Monsanto, etc. Other moves took us to Atlanta;
Ft. Meade, Md., and finally, to Southern California, where
we still live in a perfect summertime climate year round.
After moving here, I held leadership positions at the Paul
Merage School of Business at the University of California,
Irvine, for nine years. Recently, I was recruited by UCLA's
Anderson School of Management to be its Director of
Executive MBA Programs, where I in turn recruit 72
executives from the western U.S. for the business school's
highly ranked EMBA program. Remember how shy I was at LHS?
Well, now I regularly make presentations to audiences of
hundreds at international conferences in Barcelona, Toronto,
Baltimore and other cities on the innovative MBA programming
I’ve created for business executives. Those programs include
corporate board governance, executive mentoring, and
executive career development.
Hearth & Home
I met my husband during graduate school at K-State, and as of
July 2008, I have been married for 36 years to Colonel
(Retired) John Haas. We have three sons. Jeremy, 32,
graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and now lives in
Reston, Va., with his wife, Christine, and their 6-month-old
daughter, Allison Paige. Justin, 30, graduated from West
Point and is living in Reston, Va., with his wife, Ashley,
and their one-year-old daughter, Jaelyn Faith. Joel, 27,
also graduated from West Point and is living in Ko Olina,
Hawaii. He is "almost" engaged to a beautiful young woman
from London. I have loved being mother of the groom at
weddings in Kennebunkport, Me., and in Philadelphia, adding
two beautiful daughters in the past three years and two
granddaughters this past year. They all have brought rich
blessings and unspeakable joy to our lives! |
